New Ash Green v Street End

East Kent Feeder League - 46 Overs per side

Street End (20 pts) 167 all out (45.4 overs)
New Ash Green (6 pts) 83 all out (39.2 overs)
New Ash Green lost by 84 runs

Having conceded over 280 runs away to Street End New Ash Green were pleased with a solid bowling and fielding performance, admittedly on a rather less amenable track for the batsmen. Arron Ward produced one stunning piece of fielding to run out Street End's talented young opnener, and Andy MAyers and Mick Sumner bolwed very tightly at the end to ensure no major acceleration and to take maximum bowling points.

Batting was also more difficult for New Ash Green though, with Paul Betts bowling with great pace, probably the fastest in the league. He removed Martin Pickering, but it was extra bounce at the other end that caused a controversial incident. Matthew Quantrill was hit on the forearm, the ball leaving a visible white scratch. He was given out, but for some reason the umpire was persuaded to change his mind just as Quantrill reached the pavilion. There was much muttering from the fielding team, and when the next ball hit the pads the result was inevitable, even from an umpire who gave no other LBWs in the match. Andy Mayers was beaten by one that shot a bit and Ian Davies skied one trying to take on betts. Vic Mayers and Andy Harrington steadied the ship for a while, but couldn't really make runs, and it was left to Arron Ward to strike some hefty blows on the way to being top scorer, and to another good innings form Matt Clark and some experience from Keith Bushell to salvage a bonus point before the inevitable final wicket fell.

Westgate-on-Sea II v New Ash Green II

East Kent Feeder League - 46 Overs per side

New Ash Green (6 pts) 129-8 (46 overs)
Westgate (19 pts) 130-4 (28.5 overs)
New Ash Green lost by 6 wickets

There was some solid batting from New Ash Green, with Joe Elisak and Chris Bartram both making 24 and Michael James, Dan Lewsey and Simon Freeman all making double figures, but no one could go on to make a big score or really accelerate and a total of 129 in the 46 overs never looked enough.

There was some early hope with wickets for Dan Lewsey and Olly Cooper, but although Lewsey remained economical and Joe Elisak picked up a couple of late wickets Westgate reached the target with relative ease.

New Ash Green v Arlott

Friendly

Arlott 161 all out (40.4 overs)
New Ash Green 91 all out (32.5 overs)
New Ash Green lost by 70 runs

John Harley reverted to type on winning the toss, and chose to bowl first. He himself made the early breakthroughs and returned at the end to complete a five wicket haul and revive his hopes of catching Dan lewsey in the race for the most wickets in the season, with the club record of 85 in both their sights. Lewsey was economical but couldn't add to his own tally, though there were two for Adam Reeves and identical figures for Simon Freeman and Lee Saunders who took one apiece. Arlott ended up all out just before tea for a respectable 161.

Andy Harrington provided a solid presence at the top of the order, making 42, but no one else could reach double figures and the Sunday side's unbeaten run came to and end when the skipper added the Duck Cup to his targets for the season alongside the leading wicket taker.
