At the time or writing the full scorecard has not yet been posted, so this is a very brief report based on a few limited word of mouth descriptions of events. Click the link below for what will hopefully be full details!

Batting first in difficult conditions Marc Klus made a quick 30 or so before being out as the rain started to fall. Mick Sumner made a few at the end and there were apparently several moderate contributions from the rest. By the time Bexley batted the conditions had improved and although they didn't run away with it they were fairly comfortable winners.

New Ash Green II v Nonington II

Kent Feeder League (East) Match - 40 Overs per side

New Ash Green (6 points) 134 all out (34.1 overs)
Nonington (20 points) 137-4 (31.2 overs)
New Ash Green lost by 6 wickets

After morning showers had delayed the start and reduced the match to a 40 over game New Ash Green, lacking an umpire, were not surprisingly asked to bat first. Steve Kemp, apparently a first XI refusenik, produced some pace and movement with the new ball, though it was 14 year old Ned Gleave who struck first, bowling John Howland. Matthew Quantrill struck Kemp for a couple of fours, but then chased a wide one and nicked it to the keeper. James Oliver was probably rather unlucky to be given out LBW, but Matt Dehaney was mcuh more plumb to leave New Ash Green reeling at 25-4. Steady middle order batting from Lee Saunders (17), David Baker (19) and Joe Elisak (14) allowed some sort of recovery, though each got out just when beginning to look on top. With Nonington a man (and a bowler) short it was unfortunate that only Paul Sumner with 37 not out really managed to take advantage, and he was let down by some reckless shots by the tail with overs still to be used up. 135 was better than had looked likely, but even after all the rain the pitch was playing better than that score suggested.

Nonington set off soundly enough, helped by the fact that John Harley was not at his very best while Lee Saunders was struggling for consistency. A change to Paul Sumner and Keith Bushell brought the breakthrough, both openers going in successive overs, but Carl Knowles and Steve Kemp both batted aggressively and looked to be getting the game over quickly. Slowly the bowlers began to reign them in and eventually Bushell got the breakthrough with Kemp top edging and being caught behind. Knowles carried on and another bowling change saw Matt Dehaney producing a long hop first ball which Knowles hit hard and flat straight at David Baker, who unfortunately couldn't cling on to the chance. At that stage with 30 or so still needed Nonington probably had enough in hand, but the remaining batsmen probably wouldn't have found it as easy as Knowles. Bushell did pick up one more, to finish with a very creditable 3-33 in 10 overs, but Nonington cruised to a fairly comfortable victory to cement their place at the top of the table.

Lordswood Farningham v New Ash Green

Friendly Match

Farningham 185 all out (31 overs)
New Ash Green 107 all out (29.3 overs)
New Ash Green lost by 78 runs

After two unbeaten weekends this weekend was a reversion to type with the Sunday XI completing a hattrick of defeats on the field, though off the field they recorded their first league win of the season when Lordswood surprisingly conceded. Farningham were good opposition to pick up on the bureau, and the game started promisingly when John Harley's first ball brought a tentative attacking shot which looped gently to David Baker. Harley took another wicket and Graeme Poole also had one to make it 31-3. All the Farningham batsmen seemed anxious to go on the attack, and the 4th wicket pair looked more competent than those before them. Possibly the crictical moment came when Mark Allison was surprised by one that stopped and popped the ball up short of Lee Saunders. At full stretch Saunders got a hand to it but couldn't cling on, and Allison went on to make 89. There was another decent spell from David Baker, but Joe Elisak and Dan Lewsey (in his first game of the season) were expensive. Saunders took his revenge on Allison when he returned to have him caught, then wrapped up the tail in double quick time, bowling the last three batsmen with the score stuck on 185 to finish with 4-8. The scorecard doesn't show balls faced so I can't say if it was a hattrick, no doubt someone will let me know if it was, but it must have been 3 in five balls at worst.

In reply Andy Payne made a quick 10 and Matt Bushe completed a poor weekend with another duck, making a late entry into the running for the Duck Cup. Dan Lewsey marked his return from injury more sucessfully with bat than ball, making 24, while Saunders, Elisak and Kieran Poole all made small contributions. David Baker continued to build his batting confidence by making 24, and his erstwhile rival for the Duck Cup James Porter also recorded his best score of the season with 13. None of it was enough to get New Ash Green into contention though, and the tail subsided quickly with Phil Markham the last to go also making a run at the Duck Cup, a trophy which could be hotting up nicely as the season progresses.
